This program will project an expected future value of a tax free investment account such as an IRA, 401K or 403B retirement account.
It calculates the expected future values in 2 ways. The first is using an entered fixed rate of return (say 6%) that is fixed throughout the entire investment. The second method uses the historic annual returns on the S&P 500 from 1928 to 2013 to give a more realistic simulation of what the returns on a similar time horizon would be in a regular investment into an S&P 500 stock fund.
The purpose of this program is as an aid in retirement planning.
I also hope to convince you that your greatest asset is TIME if you use it properly. A person who puts a VERY LITTLE money aside in a stock fund for 30 or 40 years is likely to be very wealthy by the time they choose to no longer work (or are unable to work). The same amount of money invested over a shorter time is far less valuable.
Remember, if you want to get wealthy spend a little less than you make and put that money into reasonably safe investments over a long period of TIME. There are no sure ways to get rich quick, but people with even the smallest incomes can get very rich slowly.
And yes, I consider a well diversified stock investment safe even if the market value fluctuates.
